Alec took up the bass at 14 to form a band with some friends. The first jam session taught the aspiring muso that a 5 watt amp is better suited to bedroom practice than going up against a drum kit. Self study became the order of the day until a proper teacher was sourced which led to broader musical horizons and skills. Though, despite prodding to explore jazz and blues, Metallica and Guns & Roses were Alec's primary focus.

Joining a cover band in year 12 was a big shot in the arm - there's nothing like playing with others to up your game! From there Alec played with several original bands doing rock, metal and post-rock.

For arc band Alec leans towards 5 string fretless and occasionally 5 string electric upright bass.
